The Slatiňany chateau wasn’t just representative building, but it was primarily a beloved home of the Auersperg noble family. And it was exactly here where they spent their personal time with their closest and where they welcomed their extended family. The time of visits was one of the most favorite ones for the aging Franz Josef who was enjoying the company of his siblings during the era of the First Czechoslovakia Republic. Their stories would fill more than just one book – and now you have the opportunity to discover them.
Come and learn about the stories of the Princely house. See where you’d be accommodated as a guest one hundred years ago. Become part of the history for a moment!
The interiors of the ground floor will lead you into the rooms that were used for accommodating visitors. The most frequent guests here were the siblings of the chateau’s owner, Franz Josef of Auersperg (1856-1938), with their families.
The tour goes through the south and east wings of the chateau. It starts in the garden hall and continues through the connecting hall to the salon with carefully restored walls with decorative paintings. You’ll peek into the bedroom in the tower, then you’ll go through the guest bedroom with elegant canopy bed, you’ll visit the dressing room with the bathroom, then through the anteroom and the food preparation room you’ll reach the guest dining room. The end of the tour will guide you into the basement with unique utility rooms – the kitchen, the dish-washing room and the boiling room with window well.
Feel the chateau’s atmosphere just as the visitors used to feel it long time ago!
